Lasik eye surgery is creating a new hope for those who suddenly find themselves burdened with presbyopia, an eye condition where the inside of the eye stiffens and loses its natural flexibility, common for people aged over 40. A procedure lasting about 15 minutes can rid you of those gaudy reading glasses forever. Martha Hamilton, now 51 years old, experienced the transformation earlier this year. She underwent a procedure called conductive keratoplasty. According to Martha, "It's absolutely amazing. I'm finally free." CK simply applies a few drops of a basic anesthetic to the eye, then applies radiofrequency in a circular pattern along the periphery of the cornea. The procedure is considered painless, doesn't require any use of a patch, and the patient can usually return to work the following day.

In fact, the procedure only needs to be performed in one eye. This is to maintain the balance between distances, so the patient is ensured a range of vision: the goal is to eliminate the blurred vision caused by presbyopia, and not to affect any other range of vision negatively. Lasik eye surgery always seeks to restore vision at least to 20/20, and always higher if possible.
